Independent artist, mainly dealing with sound and music -often in conjunction with performing & visual arts- via creations & productions, live acts & installations, creative direction and academic education.
Nikolas Gale was born in Athens in 1985. He was introduced to music at the age of 12, when he started drums, music theory and jazz harmony lessons at “Philippos Nakas Conservatory”. At the age of 18, he went on to study “Music Technology and Acoustics” at the “Technological Educational Institute of Crete”. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2008 and decided to move to the UK for postgraduate studies. He lived for one year in Cardiff, the hometown of Wales, where he attended an “MSc in Advanced Music Production” course at the “University of Glamorgan” (Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries). His music releasing debut was with “Mind Confusionz EP” and since then, he has been releasing music for various labels. In 2010, “Peter’s Night”, an unofficial track due to copyright issues was released for free and it was a reference point for Nikolas’ future musical career. His Thesis for the MSc (“Interactive DJing: A Modular Approach of presenting Electronic Dance Music”), allowed him do an in depth research in the field of “nu-tech & creative performances”, combining among others, tools like Ableton Live, MaxMSP, JazzMutant’s Lemur and live musical instruments. Besides his studio and live work, Nikolas is a tutor at Metropolitan College and IEK AKMI.
Nikolas Gale hosts the radio show “tftk – The Four Twenty Kolektiv” along with Stiko and The Groovecollector.
